Stansbury Coastal Trail
Start at the Foreshore Caravan Park and allow about an hour for this
easy walk. At low tide, the shallow waters and sand flats alongside the
trail are home to graceful black swans and pelicans. Interpretive signs
give details on the birdlife found along the trail.
Kadina, Moonta and Wallaroo Heritage Trails
These walking trails give visitors an insight into the history of these
towns and their many old buildings. In each town the self-guided tours
take about an hour, and brochures are available from The Farm Shed Museum and Tourism Centre, Kadina or local council
offices.
Edithburgh Environmental Walks
This walk snakes its way for four kilometres from Edithburgh to Sultana
Point. It's an easy walk with a beach or clifftop option and wheelchair
access. There is also a five kilometre walk that takes you right along
the coast to Coobowie. On a clear day you can see the Adelaide Hills.
Port Vincent Walking Trail
This
gently undulating trail runs through native scrub on the Water Reserve
on the northern boundary of Port Vincent. It features three entrances,
a wooden bridge and about 40 species of native vegetation with
spectacular views across Port Vincent township and the bay. Access is
just north of the marina development.
Minlaton Walking Trail
Starting at the Yorke Peninsula Visitor Information Centre, this walk heads to
the H J Cook Fauna Park before meandering through the outskirts of town. Along
the walk interpretive signs explain the naturally growing River Red gums, and
early settlement of the area, originally known as Gum Flat. The walk can be finished
via Sheoak Grove or the Bird Hide, before heading back to the starting point.
Barkers Rocks Walking Trail
Situated
between Barkers Rocks and Port Rickaby, this trail is about five
kilometres each way and features a pristine coastal reserve with great
coastal views.
Port Victoria Geology Trail
This
trail runs south from the jetty to Rifle Butts Beach and highlights
include volcanic action from nearly 2000 million years ago. An
excellent guide book that explains in detail the sites and geological
features is available from the foreshore kiosk.
Innes National Park Walking Trails
Browns Beach To Gym Beach
2 hours one way
Unique flora and fauna with high picturesque sand dunes with a vast
array of birdlife; delicate orchids are also on show in Spring.
Royston Head Walk
1 1/2 hours return
Spectacular views of the rugged peninsula coastline and sparkling blue
Southern Ocean. Don't miss the view from the lookout at Royston Head.
Cape Spencer
15 minutes return
Incredible views of Althorpe and Kangaroo Islands from the lighthouse
with the rugged views along the coast of Innes National Park behind you.
Inneston
1 hour return
A well marked trail leads you through the old township of Inneston and
around the old gypsum mining area. Interpretive signs help you relive
the lives of early settlers.
Thomson / Pfitzner Plaster Trail Hike
2 hours return
Following the old wooden rail line, this walk begins in Inneston or
Stenhouse Bay with interpretive signs taking you back in time to the
days of early settlement.
Stenhouse Bay Lookout
1 hour return
Starting at the jetty car park, this 2km loop leads you around the cliff tops on a formed trail through low closed coastal heath.
