Corny Point
Situated on the North West tip of the Yorke Peninsula Corny Point is a delightful small seaside town. Named Corny Point by Captain Flinders in 1802 due to the fact that it looks like a growth on the toe of the Yorke Peninsula. A month later a French explorer called it Point Berthier. However the name Corny Point has remained. The township was originally established as a place for a lighthouse, which was completed in 1882. Corny Point of today offers sheltered beaches as well as some excellent surf beaches within 15 minutes drive. It also offers a wide variety of other water sports, time to relax and some amazing scenery. It is within close distance and easy roads of Innes National Park and Stenhouse Bay, and some great coastal drives, making it the perfect base for travelling the foot of Yorke Peninsula.

History
The lighthouse at Corny Point was completed in 1882 and is 12.2 metres high and a focal plane 29.9 metres above sea level. Built of local limestone, it was initially serviced by a head keeper and assistant. The lighthouse ceased being manned in 1920. The lighthouse was built to help protect the grain ships servicing the Yorke Peninsula from sou-westers. The sou-westers could crash them on Web Rock, reefs and shoals off Berry Bay and Daly Head. By 1925 Corny Point had become a popular seaside resort.
